Hi Sam!

Thanks for taking the time to read this letter. As fellow YouTubers, we have much respect for others who put so much hard work into building their channel. It’s not easy, and you should be proud! That said, we’ve noticed that in your success, there has been a lack of respect in…

I expect my comment is going to get deleted but for the few mins/hour it will get, I’m saying it. It really saddens me that my daughter is growing up in a world where one day a stranger (male OR female) could touch her without her consent, on a part of her body that is private (in my opinion) in the name of ‘comedy’ and then have thousands of other strangers comment on it saying it’s fine and she should be ok with it. Maybe she would find it funny, maybe she would be deeply humiliated. Point is, she’d have no choice. I want my daughter to have freedom and choices and feel that her body is respected.

Louise, you nailed it.

GRANGER DANGER GRANGER DANGER

Fetishizing ‘power’ in women characters – having them kicking ass and always being ready with a putdown - isn’t the same as writing them as human beings.

Dogma (1999)

Attacking femaleness, deriding ‘girly stuff’ and rolling your eyes at ‘women’s issues’ declaring yourself a ‘tomboy’ who gets along better with men because women are silly or pretty or whatever these are expressions of internalized sexism. If that’s the way you feel about your own sex you’ll be doomed to feel inferior no matter what you achieve in life.
